OLVERA STREET, a romantic vision of old Mexico

I know what you guys are thinking – “Whaaa? Has Yael gone on a Mexican vacation?” Well, not really, but pretty close!

I don’t know why it took me so long to visit Olvera Street; it is the closest thing to home that I’ll find here in Los Angeles. Thank you so much Felicia for discovering this little gem for us! We had an unbelievable time; this place is just perfect for a weekend afternoon and a mini get away without even leaving town. This colorful Mexican-style marketplace is just loads of fun with stands full of so many goodies. Dan and I decided we should absorb some of the greatness of the famous street and grabbed some authentic Mexican candy – so yummy!

I really enjoyed strolling around this little Hispanic neighborhood and listening to some Latin music – it brought me so many good memories of my childhood. We got so lucky and showed up at the best time apparently; right when some beautiful Mexican dancers were performing at the plaza. Aren’t their dresses gorgeous? They are so full of life!

  1. Great looking place! My wife grew up in Anaheim… she says that place is great. We are in Anaheim at the moment. Going to Disney tomorrow and the next day.

  2. That looks like such a fun experience! I just discovered your blog this week and am enjoying catching up on some of your past posts. You take beautiful pictures!

  3. Another great series of shots Yael, and it would be neat to see your beginning photos to where you are today…really have some impressive photos and style with your shots. Your stuff keeps getting better & better. These shots are great, and I think this is why California/LA is so cool, so much to see and experience (and to shoot). Cheers!
